Eligibility Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Have lived in Western Australia for at least 12 months
- Be of good character and have no relevant criminal convictions
- Be able to read, write, and speak English
- Not be an undischarged bankrupt
- Be willing to undertake approved JP training
The Application Process

Check eligibility
Review the eligibility criteria and confirm you meet all requirements before applying.

Complete JP training
Attend an approved JP training course. RAJWA runs training sessions throughout the year.

Gather your documents
Prepare certified copies of your identification and any supporting documents.

Submit your application
Lodge your application with the Department of Justice WA for review.

Receive your appointment
Successful applicants are appointed by the Governor and receive their official certificate.
